"I retired more often than Sinatra..."

"There's always a reason why these people are not involved in my life anymore, we had a great time while it lasted..."

"David came out from playing for 200 people in bars to play in front of 300.000 at the California "Jam"

"As an artist, if there are 20.000 people, I just create an atmosphere of 200. That's something very natural for me to do..."

"I have to be more disconnected now from this industry, that's so alien to me, and I talk about the record companies..."

"I am not as connected to the necessity of success like I was before..."

"Metallica can do whatever Metallica does, but as an observer, the idea of suing people who are your fans was not the brightest thing to do."

"And your manager says, if you want to maintain your 5 Mio Beverley Hills home, you better go on the fu... road !"

House of Blues. Sunset Strip, Hollywood. Two nights .... Whitesnake

I didn't think I'll see David Coverdale again on stage; after all the geezers from the "Hairband" era have been taboo for such a long time; never mind if they are brilliant musicians or not.

The new version of Whitesnake (and David Coverdale as I remember him with a lot more wrinkles than what he had the other day) did not disappoint.

The bands energy was vibrant, more so on Sunday night as on Saturday, and David used his good old English charm to capture and lure the audience with every word he sang.

"I've had enough of the Tarzan impressions...I wanna sing...Less strain on the old Calvins...", explains David and continues, "A lot of people thought that when I said I wanted to 'sing'...that I was going to come out like some kind of Barry Manilow!!"

Whitesnake's band contributed to the fantastic musicianship on stage and supported David's perfect pitch. Uriah Duffy (bass) is the newest member and no newcomer to music. The 26 year old Rhode Island native worked with a diverse array of artists, including TnA (Pat Travers and Carmine Appice), Christina Aguilera, Bay Area hip-hoppers Lyrics Born, metal guitarists Doug Doppler and Danny Jones and many more. He's even filled Larry Graham's shoes playing bass for Family Stone Experience and Funk 101, both of which feature original members of Sly & the Family Stone.

Although he is proud of his ability to play so many styles, Uriah's favorite styles are "R&B and Funk. The kind with the stank on it."

When it comes right down to it, I want to see people up and dancing, moving and grooving to the lines I creates. Following in the complex and technical styles of Michael Manring, Victor Wooten and others, Uriah also learned to play all types of tunes arranged for

solo bass playing but quickly points out his solo ability isn't what keeps him working. "It's great that the bass can now be seen and heard as a solo voice, though I'm not sure if this (solo bass playing) is just a hobby for me or not. I definitely don't get hired because I can play this type of stuff, but it keeps me challenged. And most listeners could care less if I play 3000 notes or 3 solid notes!" Consistent members like Tommy Aldridge on Drums (who needs no further introduction) provided a solid rhythm section and Reb Beach and Dough Aldridge (not related to Tommy) gave astonishing performances on Guitar. Timothy Drury added his part on the Keys and backing vocals.

When we asked David about the revival of good old Rock N Roll he said: "It is screamingly obvious that it is time for artists who feel they have any integrity left, to make a stand as independents... and to be able to afford to do that...they will have to work live... and people will have to go out and support them...or...guess what... we'll all end up, sitting on our distracted, fat "arses" at home...being force fed genetically modified music on TV...and it won't be stimulating music either...It will be crap... designed specifically to keep you shopping for products you don't need... I'm not going down without a fight, Boys and Girls... and, may I respectfully suggest... you don't either...".                                                     RMc, Eva Bubek, S.Lewis
