trap...trapper...trapt...

Being young, famous and living out your prime time in rock 'n' roll is a beautiful think; but when TRAPT hit the stage at the Avalon (former "Palace") in Hollywood, I didn't know what to expect. To reproduce the in-you-face, high energy sound recorded on their latest album "Somewhat in Control" left me wondering if it could be done live.... Having spoken with Simon (guitar) and Monty (drums) earlier in the day, I was assured that I was in for a treat.

The four-some started their set with "Still Frame", followed by one hour and ten minutes of power riffs, strong hook lines, gorgeous ethereal guitars and soulful melodies. A simple stage set the background to allow fans to focus on the musical talent and be spoiled by the their profes-sionalism.

The power-house rhythm section (Monty-drums and Peter Charrell-bass) played like demons; Simon Ormandy (guitar) didn't even break a sweat while flying over the strings with lightening speed and great presission and of course there was Chris Brown, who showed his true colors with a persistently strong performance on vocals. There was no let-up; one great tune replaced the other and while I was on of the oldest gals in the audience I found myself rocking out like a teenager.

Thanks TRAPT! You made my evening!
