And there is one more for the eager fans of reality television. Bruce Sinofsky, one of the directors of the Metallica rock documentary "Some Kind of Monster", will turn his camera on Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee. Lee recently starred in his own NBC reality show, "Tommy Lee Goes to College." The still-untitled film, in preproduction, is scheduled to begin shooting this spring. "In the rock world, there are few figures as colorful as Tommy Lee, and not just because of his tattoos," said Sinofsky, who won an Independent Spirit Award last year for best documentary for "Metallica". He also shared an Emmy and Peabody awards for the 1996 documentary "Paradise Lost: The Child Murders at Robin Hood Hills," which aired as part of HBO's "America Undercover" series. "I'm honored that Bruce is turning his cameras loose on me," said Lee.

Chicago officials have rejected a bid by Radiohead to play in the Millennium Park this summer. The band, who is currently getting ready to release their seventh album, hoped to play the Frank Gehry–designed Jay Pritzker Pavilion in the park on June 19 and 20, but were told that the Grant Park Symphony Orchestra was scheduled to hold rehearsals there on the 20th. This has caused some controversy in the Windy City, as the park officials claim to want more live popular music and the revenue it provides, but have been accused of being wary of the noise complaints they have received in the past. "We have to support organizations such as the Grant Park Orchestra, but we're open to other events if there are availabilities at other times," Karen Ryan, a Millennium Park spokesperson, told the Sun-Times. The best news to come out of all of this though: We now know that Radiohead plan to tour this summer! Specific dates, however, have not yet been released.

Queensryche is scheduled to release 'Operation:mindcrime II' this month, after finalizing a deal with Rhino records. This is the sequel the 1988 concept album 'Operation:mindcrime.' "Several labels were interested in signing Queensryche, but we went with Rhino because our good friend Kenny Nemes is an executive there. He worked with us on our 'Greatest Hits' album for EMI. Kenny is a very creative guy," says vocalist Geoff Tate. "We are utterly confident that Rhino will do what it takes to make as many people aware of 'Operation:mindcrime II' as possible. They already have a ton of different, innovative promotional ideas in mind and so do we, so it's a great fit." During their recent sold-out tour, 'Operation:mindcrime' was performed live in its entirety for the first time in 15 years. Tate, guitarist Michael Wilton, guitarist Mike Stone, bass guitarist Eddie Jackson and drummer Scott Rockenfield are picking up the provocative tale: "It's best known for its intriguing plot involving Nikki, a young man from the streets who is brainwashed and turned into a drug-addicted assassin by a evil, anarchy movement led by Dr. X. Nikki's lover, Mary, a teen-age runaway who becomes a prostitute and then a nun, is murdered. 'Operation:mindcrime' was left open-ended with a central, heart-pounding cliffhanger: Who killed Sister Mary? 'Operation:mindcrime II' will address that question, as well as Nikki's fate.

"Hey, that's a nice iPod you have, but isn't it a chore having to take it out of your pockets sometimes?". Imagine the unbelievable stress on your arms each time you have to haul your iPod from the pocket of your jeans to turn it on or off or to work out what blindingly esoteric song your impeccably varied play list has thrown up. Wouldn't it be so much easier if someone just invented a pair of iPod jeans? Guess what - someone has done just that. The Levi's RedWire DLX iPod Jeans are going on sale in the fall 2006. The Levi's RedWire DLX iPod Jeans will come with several handy features:

- An iPod docking cradle will be built into the the Levi's RedWire DLX iPod Jeans, to be 'invisibly' housed in a side pocket. The cradle comes with a red ribbon that allows users to quickly and easily remove their iPod from their pocket while remaining connected. The jeans are machine washable, but only once you've removed the iPod ... duuuh.
- A special joystick control is built into the watch pocket iPod Jeans, allowing you to easily move through tracks and control volume, all while convincing everyone else in the same tube carriage that you are some kind of deranged groin-rubbing pervert.
- The Jeans come with a re-tractable headphone unit built directly into them to "help prevent tangles and efficiently manage the iPod earphone wires".

Estimated sale price around $200 bucks ... and yes we know, you o secretly want a pair.

LSD is an unlikely subject for a 100th birthday party. Yet the Swiss chemist who discovered the mind-altering drug and was its first human guinea pig is celebrating his centenary Wednesday — in good health and with plans to attend an international seminar on the hallucinogenic. "I had wonderful visions," said Albert Hofmann, recalling his first accidental consumption of the drug. Hofmann, who also had bad experiences with the drug, continues to insist it should be legalized for medical treatment, particularly in psychiatric research. "I produced the substance as a medicine," he said. "It's not my fault if people abused it." The chemist discovered lysergic acid diethylamide-25 in 1938 while studying the medicinal uses of a fungus found on wheat and other grains at the Sandoz pharmaceuticals firm, now part of Novartis. Hofmann was the first person to test the drug when a tiny amount of the substance seeped on to his finger during a laboratory experiment in April 1943. Still defending his discovery, Hoffman writes: "LSD itself is not a bad substance, however the history of LSD to date amply demonstrates the catastrophic consequences that can ensue when its profound effect is misjudged and the substance is mistaken for a pleasure drug".

Judges of this year’s Brit Awards have been left outraged after Pink Floyd were omitted from the Best Live Act shortlist. Many of the panel believed that their show-stealing comeback performance at Live 8 deserved to be nominated for the music industry back-patting ceremony. However, they were told that Pink Floyd could not be nominated because they did not perform in front of a paying audience. As the Independent reports, one exasperated judge moaned: "It is ridiculous. Pink Floyd's performance was clearly one of the biggest talking points of 2005 in the music world." The all too predictable list of nominees for the best live act are Oasis (yawn), KT Tunstall (groan), Coldplay, Franz Ferdinand and Kaiser Chiefs.

Former Jane's Addiction and current THE PANIC CHANNEL guitarist Dave Navarro has posted the following message on his official web site:

"OK, here is a little story from Thursday night [Jan. 5]. I went to Rokbar [LA lounge co-owned by Navarro, MÖTLEY CRÜE's Tommy Lee and DJ Paul Oakenfold] and got myself situated with a couple of friends at a table and decide to order some food. So my food arrives, I'm sitting there eating and this big seven-foot-tall, five-feet-wide guy comes up to me. "'Is your name Dave?'; "'Yes.'; "'Hey can my sister get a picture with you?'; 'Well, I am eating right now so I can't really do that, but thanx and have a good time.' "About a half hour later, the waitress comes up to me and says, 'Hey, that guy wants to buy you guys a round of shots.' 'Oh, thank you, but I don't drink.' "Seems pretty simple, right? Well, another half hour goes by and the guy comes back over to my table and says, 'What are you too good for me? You're too cool to have a shot with me? FUCK YOU, you fuckin asshole!!!' In my head, I'm like, 'What the fuck?' He then loses it and turns over all the drinks and plates on my table and they all go flying into the air and shatter as they crash into each other and onto the table, causing a rain of glass to fall upon me and my friends. "The guy started to walk away and leaves the bar, I think, realizing what has happened, and I was told I leapt over the table and ran after him. We head outside for the big throw down, and that's when I realize this guy is as big as he is. Uh oh."Anyway, bouncers and security intervene and when I see that I'm all safe, I THEN get all hard and ghetto. 'What the fuck, dude? Let's fucking do this! What's your problem?' All the cliche 'Let's step outside' bar smack. The guy gets into his limo and I say to the driver and all of his friends, 'Keep this bitch here! He's going to jail!' Then I direct it all to him. 'You're going to jail, bitch! That's right motherfucker... Say hello to jail, son!' "So the security calls the cops, the driver isn't goin' anywhere and it seems like they are gonna deal with it and I go inside. Then I think... 'Ah, the guy is drunk, we are OK... Fuck it, I don't need the cops here. This is stupid.' I go back out to tell security to blow it off and the driver had taken off. I'm like, 'Motherfucker, you are kidding me! They split? The driver split? They evaded?' Then I get really pissed. OK... Bring those cops here now then! "I must say I was impressed with the response time. Two squad cars pull up in like two minutes. We give them the info and the plate number of the limo etc. They ask me if I want to press charges and have them go out and look for this idiot. I decide that I'd rather not make the rest of my night all about police reports and papers to fill out and all that shit, so I tell them thanx but they can blow it off. "I guess there was no real 'crime.' I mean, I could have filed a vandalism charge because it's my bar or an attempted assault, but at the end of the day, I was just happy to have a moment of real drama and police and all that shit. I got my little adrenaline rush. That was all I needed. I told the cops that they probably have better things to deal with so blow it off. The whole thing was fuckin fun though. Hahahahaha."

GENE SIMMONS will be one of the keynote speakers at the The Next BIG Idea – The Future Of Branded Entertainment – Harnessing The Power Of Movies, Television, Music, Sports And Games Conference at the Renaissance in Hollywood, CA, on January 17. For $795 a ticket, this conference will teach you “everything you want to know about branded entertainment and non-traditional advertising”. On his website Gene states: “I'll be talking about the "Gene Simmons Brand"... sound like I'm full of myself? You bet. Pick up an issue of Billboard, Brandweek or other industry magazines and you'll see the full pager that gives you all the details. We will also be filming the event for our Gene Simmons Family Jewels/A&E show. On the way to a (..gulp) vacation... Not really. I don't do vacations and don't want any. I love what I do and a vacation would only take me away from what I love doing: Staying busy. But we are going snowboarding to a vacation resort... and bringing our GS Family Jewels camera crews along for the festivities .” Although Gene doesn't want to reveal yet what his next magazine or some of his other big new venture s” will be about, the Branded Entertainment Conference web site reveals in their bio on Gene the title of his forthcoming magazine (Gene Simmons Game magazine) and that Ge ne’s brand new television network NG-TV (No Good TV) goes on the air in the summer.
