Duran Duran’s 1995 ‘Thank You’ has topped a poll as the worst album of all time. The album was voted ahead of the likes of Billy Idol’s ‘Cyberpunk’ and Mick Jagger’s solo effort ‘Primitive Cool’ in the poll by Q Magazine’s deputy editor Gareth Grundy: "The list is a mixture of the unspeakable and those ridiculous acts of hubris, although we tried not to pick on the obvious soft targets. "Duran Duran was the one that united everyone in agreement. We put it on in the office to remind ourselves how bad it was. It is abysmal on every level, as befits an album where you have Simon Le Bon trying to cover Public Enemy."

The LAPD is tracking down leads after receiving a complaint from a paparazzo who claims Kid Rock's bodyguards hit him and threw his camera to the ground. The photographer also claims that Kid Rock then picked up the camera, put it inside his vehicle and drove away with both bodyguards. The alleged incident took place in front of the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood, CA. Kid Rock had just left Teddy's, the club at the hotel, when a 26-year-old photographer attempted to take a picture. That's when the alleged assault occurred. The police are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact them at (213) 972-2936.
... now I wonder, as food for thought, if that would have been a female photographer, a Mamarazzo as we refer to them here in the halls of Wild Axes, would this situation have occured ...... ?

Cross breeding traditional Irish influences and heavy-hearted storytelling with brazen punk rock - The Flogging Molly may be called "Agro-Celt," "jig-punk," "Celtic 'core" - they've heard it all before. Dublin born lead singer Dave King began his musical career as a member of Fastway, teaming up with Motorhead guitarist Eddie Clarke in the late 80's. Dave found himself in Los Angeles in 1989 at the invitation of legendary record guru John Kalodner to begin a band called Katmandu. Dave eventually formed Flogging Molly and has been going strong ever since. I remember having on too many Poteen with Dave at a pub in LA called Molly Malone's and even than he rocked the house ... shitty PA an all. If you are in the Arizona area today, check out an irish evening you won't forget. The band is playing at the Mesa Amphi-theatre in Mesa, AZ ... as for myself; I am going to catch the lads at the Key Club in good old Los Angeles on March 22. There's been no official comment, but there just might be something brewing between LED ZEPPELIN leaders Jimmy Page and Robert Plant. The pair has been estranged for a few years, with Plant re-peatedly saying he has no interest in revisiting the past. However, while neither man is currently on tour, they were both in Los Angeles last week, and they stayed at the same hotel. Of course, that could just be a coincidence, but photo-grapher Ross Halfin wrote in his online diary at RossHalfin.co.uk that he was with both men in L.A. in separate incidents, and that Plant was "in town with Jimmy Page." Over the past few years, Page has asked Plant to work together, but Plant has always declined and said repeatedly that he has no interest in revisiting the past. In August of 2004, Page told the U.K. newspaper The Independent that he was thinking about doing a SANTANA-style album with a number of guests. There's been no word on how far along the project is, or when it might come out. Plant kicks off a European tour tomorrow, Friday (March 10), at the Caprices Festival in Crans-Montana, Switzerland. North American shows haven't been announced for this year yet.

Sebastian Bach (ex-SKID ROW) and Evan Seinfeld (BIOHAZARD) "engaged in fisticuffs" back at the Parisian Palace in Las Vegas after a night out last week. Bach and Seinfeld just spent 12 days in Vegas shooting a new VH1 reality TV show, tentatively titled "SuperGroup", also featuring Scott Ian (ANTHRAX; guitar), Ted Nugent (guitar), and Jason Bonham (BONHAM, UFO, FOREIGNER; drums). Filming for the program ended on February 22, with the premise being to lock several musicians in a house for 10 days and get them to write and record some new original music. Originally the network wanted the group to record an album, but at this time it is understood they will settle for one song and hope for more. In addition to the five musicians, star manager Doc McGhee (KISS) was in charge and was also living in the house for the duration of filming/recording. The all-star band, which is calling itself DAMNOCRACY, performed a headlining set at the Empire Ballroom in Las Vegas Sunday night (March 5). The group's setlist was as follows:

08. Stranglehold

The purveyor of stomach churningly "bad rock music" (that is Jon Bon Jovi) has decided to blast the equally awful The Darkness. The altercation comes about after some bad words flew around the place from both parties. In fact Jon Bon hates them so much that he was even driven to swearing. He ranted: "I hate The Darkness. Fucking hate 'em. I don't understand it. I know they are huge, but I never really got it. "It's just Spinal Tap isn't it? It's just a lark. I'm not sure they think so, though. I think they take it seriously. They made a little splash in the US but, man... I don't get it at all," reports Dotmusic. Expect Mr Justin Hawkins’ vacuous backlash very soon ... and because I am the Editor, I can write about my opinion and you can't stop me ... personally ... Bon Jovi rocks. They have been around for 20 yrs and still kick ass and while I am not opposed to change; kiss my ass with some of your indie shit and try filling 65.000 seats with it. GMc

The Corrs are returning full circle with their latest album Home, which was released in the US on February 7th, 2006. As the title suggests, The Corrs are back to fond beginnings, defining a journey that began 15 years ago. It is a record that is held close to the bands hearts, compiled through a songbook of the late Jean Corr, and brought to life by the bands urge to bring new interpretations to traditional Irish songs. Recorded over six months, the making of the album became a journey in uniting both old and new. Traditional Irish songs were carefully chosen, and set to new arrangements, whilst remaining true and faithful to the core emotion of the originals. The mixture of traditional and contemporary, is one that is truly celebrated throughout Home. Whereas the predominately Irish songs are interpreted in a contemporary way, other songs such as ‘Heart Like A Wheel’, originally written by Anna McGarrigle, remain strongly Irish in sound and spirit. For sound bites and further info check their web site at www.thecorrswebsite.com

For all of you in need of a good laugh, FALL OUT BOY bassist Pete Wentz has released the following statement concerning "racy" images of him that were leaked online: "So as some of you obviously know someone hacked into my sidekick and took pictures off of it. This was very upsetting and a total invasion of privacy. I can't explain to you how it feels. What's even more absurd to me is that anyone would care to see a couple of racy pictures of some shitty, dirty boy. Its been a tough couple of weeks for me lately. The only good thing about times of adversity is that you realize who your real friends and fans are- and the rest go away- which in my mind is an ok thing. The moral of the story: if you really don't want pictures of yourself to end up on the internet. don't take the pictures.

I guess if you paint got it ... you have to be ashamed of it when it comes out ...lol

Irish guitarist Gary Moore, is set to enjoy a career resurgence with the April 4 release of One Night In Dublin: A Tribute To Phil Lynott on DVD and the May 2 release of Old New Ballads Blues on CD. Both events are from Eagle Rock Entertainment. The DVD was filmed on what would have been Lynott’s 56th birthday, August 20, 2005. On that day, his mother unveiled a statue on Dublin’s famous Gafton Street of her late son as fans and luminaries looked on. In the crowd was the rest of Thin Lizzy who jammed that night on eight Thin classics— “Jailbreak,” Don’t Believe A Word,” “Emerald,” “Still In Love With You,” “Black Rose,” “Cowboy Song,” “The Boys Are Back In Town” and “Whiskey In The Jar”—plus two from the Moore solo catalog, “Parisienne Walkways” (originally recorded with Lynott in ‘79) and “Walking By Myself.” Moore was at the top of his game on this emotional evening, as were bandmates Brian Downey, Brian Robertson, Scott Gorham, Eric Bell and Jethro Tull’s Jonathan Noyce. The DVD also includes highlights of that afternoon’s proceedings, and interviews with band members. The Old New Ballads Blues CD stands as a testament to Moore’s unerring artistry, as he seamlessly melds originals with blues classics by Otis Rush and Willie Dixon. Tracks include “Done Somebody Wrong,” “You Know My Love,” “Ain’t Nobody,” “Gonna Rain Today,” “Flesh And Blood,” “Cut It Out,” “No Reason To Cry” and “I’ll Play The Blues For You.” Plus, Moore has updated two fan favorites from the album Still Got The Blues—“Midnight Blues” and “All Your Love”—in sterling new 2006 versions.

IRON MAIDEN have commenced the recording sessions for their new album with producer Kevin Shirley. A posting on Shirley's official web site reads as follows:

"My equipment rolled in Monday night, the MAIDEN truck rolled in Tuesday, and we set the studio up — it's a big job but by Tuesday night were almost ready to go. Wednesday, Nicko [McBrain] and Steve [Harris] came in about noon, the other lads about three, Bruce [Dickinson] about 4. I fiddled with the sound, and it's really coming up really good. Everyone has come to a similar place about where we're going, and it's been hard work, and a lot of fun. There is a lot of laughing, and a little bit of frustration when things get difficult. We've cut three basic tracks, and got a fourth ready to go tomorrow.

A woman involved in the sex video showing Scott Stapp and Kid Rock with several strippers has sued Stapp for invasion of privacy. The woman, identified as "Jane Doe" in a lawsuit filed in Miami said she believed the video would remain in Stapp's private possession. But a clip from the video turned up on the Internet. The lawsuit seeks to prevent sale of the video and asks for unspecified damages, alleging the woman suffered emotional distress. "For all purposes, she is the star of the females in the video," the lawsuit said. Stapp claims the tape, made in 1999, was stolen from him. The former lead singer of Creed and Kid Rock have won a temporary court order in Michigan preventing World Wide Red Light District from distributing the video or promoting any part of it.... and the saga shall continue!

Old-school rockers still rake in the big bucks touring for their aging fans, but they just can't quit their whining. It's no secret that traditional touring rockers hate the way media conglomerates, MTV and pop music have changed the face of music. But Arquette's film, which airs on Showtime on March 8, gathers together an over-whelming collection of testimonials on the subject by artists like Sting, Elton John, David Crosby, Steven Tyler, Peter Gabriel and Tom Petty. "There was a time when our catalogue was worth $24 million, now it's worth like 12 cents," moans Tyler, Aerosmith's lead singer. "Why? Because anybody can download anything on the Internet. The only thing an artist today is worth is his happiness, integrity and hard tickets." "Most true artists care about music as a pure, passionate art form, but can get caught in the trap of the business," Arquette explained. "Which, sadly, has now become more important than the artist or even the music itself." The big media companies who run the labels "haven't a clue," lamented Crosby, of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. They "wouldn't know a song if it flew up their noses and died … . That's what puts Britney Spears, who is about as deep as a birdbath, in front of Joni Mitchell." As for Pretenders lead singer Chrissy Hynde, she has her own problems with modern rock. "Fashion has destroyed everything I like about rock and roll," she laughed. "It was a blow to me when I got pregnant and had to wear a nursing bra on stage."

The four albums seeing the light of day are 1979's previously import-only debut Three Imaginary Boys, 1980's Seventeen Seconds, 1981's Faith and 1982's cult classic Pornography. Guitarist Rick Perry of the reunited Texas thrashers GAMMACIDE has issued the following:"Many of you have asked if there are going to be any more GAMMACIDE shows. The answer is yes, we are planning to do a Texas tour this summer including one show in the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex. We also plan on hitting Austin or San Antonio, Houston, and possibly Oklahoma City. The hard-rocking Irish band, The Young Dubliner's, are headlining tonight at the House of Blues Sunset Strip in Hollywood, CA. Don't hold your breath on tickets though. As far as expectations, you'll be treated to songs of the groups third record, "Real World". The inspiration for Real World is drawn from the trials and tribulations of being a real, working band and their life on the road. "We are all aware of how lucky we are to be making a living by doing what we love. Without being on the road and playing to our fans, that just wouldn't be possible," Keith Roberts (vocals, guitar) explains. Building a fervent fan base comparable to that of jam band rockers like Phish and Dave Matthews Band, The Young Dubliners have become notorious for the whirling "jig pits" that erupt at their live shows. Just before recording to their new album began, Roberts underwent a throat surgery which required months of vocal cord rehabilitation. "My surgery made us all aware of how close we came to losing it all. Our determination to succeed is even stronger than before," he reflects. "Touch The Sky" stands out as a potent rock hit, with its killer hook and positive lyrics. All in all, each of the tracks witnessed a collaborative effort by each of the members, allowing for the album's cohesive and rock-solid sound. Musing about the band's sound, Roberts sums up the Young Dubliner's approach to their music, be it Celtic, Irish, or just plain rock. "I like to think that our take on songwriting and performance makes the Young Dubliner's sound unique and original. Our band is made up of Irish and American natives who draw influences from just about everywhere. Our strength is in the sum of our parts. We play as a band, as one." Rob Zombie has been hard at work on his second movie as a director, "The Devil's Rejects", but what about his next album? Zombie's been recording the disc in bits and pieces for the last year, but said it's still not completed. "I've been making a record forever, I mean, and once again it's on hold 'cause I'm mixing the sound (for 'Devil's Rejects') and then in a couple of weeks I'll go back to the record and hopefully finish it someday," he said. "It's just one of those things, it's just — it always takes a backseat to the movie, and until the movie's, like, really done done, I can never say, 'Okay, it's record time.' But I mean, I have a lot done." Zombie says he has 26 songs in various stages of readiness for the album. Among the people who have played on the record so far are LIMP BIZKIT guitarist Wes Borland, MÖTLEY CRÜE drummer Tommy Lee and A PERFECT CIRCLE drummer Josh Freese. Former MARILYN MANSON guitarist John 5, who just joined Zombie's touring band, will also contribute to the album. Zombie will headline the second stage of this summer's Ozzfest, beginning on July 15 in Mansfield, Mass. "The Devil's Rejects" opens in theatres on July 22.

The Sex Pistols are set to sell their back catalogue for a host of new advertising campaigns according to reports. With Universal Music Publishing buying the rights to Johnny Rotten & Co’s material the company is looking to make millions of pounds from allowing advertisers to use the songs. Several companies including British Airways and Range Rover have already showed an interest while tracks may be used for TV and film soundtracks too. The band however have drawn up a set of ground rules stating which campaigns and what products their material can be used for. Apparently ads for luxury cars, mobile phones and MP3 players are fine by them with a spokesman adding they also want adverts that "focus on anti-establishment/punk ideals"

The frontman for '80s metal pioneers Twisted Sister had emergency throat surgery Friday after his voice gave out following a Los Angeles concert, leading doctors to discover a polyp that had lodged near his vocal chords. As a result, the New York-based quartet was forced to scrap a performance at the Atarfe Vega Festival in Grenada, Spain March 10 and 11. An April 29 show set for Las Vegas' Silverton Casino is still on as of press time. Snider, better known to younger generations for his hilarious commentary on the '70s and '80s on VH1's I Love nostalgia series, will also have to sit out his nationally syndicated weekly radio gig, The House of Hair, which goes out to more than 200 radio stations across the U.S., as well as nix various tube commitments, studio sessions and other live engagements over the next two months so he can properly recuperate. "I have been told by my doctors that the recovery period will be about eight weeks so Twisted Sister will be performing again early in May, so our summer tour plans will not be affected," said Snider. "We all wish Dee the very best with this surgery. I have been trying to get him to shut up for the best part of 30 years, but now I am faced with a silent partner for the next eight weeks," he joked. "I think I should just sit back, pour myself a drink and enjoy it!"
