Los Angeles is all about live concerts and we truly get over-run with Bands in this town. However, once in a while one is lucky enough to get a true performance “goody”. That was the case with the Goo Goo Dolls at the House of
Blues. The band performed a Visa Signature Concerts as part of Grammy Week, which sold out within 3 hours of ticket release. The venue was packed with
eager fans of all ages, and the Goos where greeted by a wall of screams when they hit the stage just about after 9 pm. Their reception felt kind of like a
shadow of a Beatles show, and set the mood for an extraordinary performance with great fan participation.

 

 

The show started of with “Big Machine” and the band moved energetically from song to song with relatively few breaks, delivering hit after hit to an appreciative and receptive crowd, who sang along word for word to most of the tunes. There were lots of Guitar changes accommodating different tuning and the three-some performed as a well oiled machine. Front men Johnny Rzeznik knew how to work the fans with his charismatic stage presence and strong musicianship, while bassist Robby Takac played more of a “hell-out-of-the-strings” approach. The only new song performed was “Better Days”, which is the Goo’s

 

 

 

 

first single of their new Album “Let Love In”, scheduled to be re- leased April 18th.
This was my first time seeing this band live and while I am not surprised by the excellence and professionalism, I truly enjoyed their show. Thanks Goo
